Settlers of Catan Board Game

The Settlers of Catan is a hugely popular strategy board game which was originally designed and released in Germany back in 1995.

Each player in this multi player board game represent a settler of a colony. Throughout the course of the game the “settlers” build cities, roads and other structures on the Island known as Catan. Each player rolls the dice on their turn and in doing so they determine which resources are generated and how they are shared out amongst themselves and the other players.

The aim of the game is to effectively and strategically trade the resources with other players and use what resources they obtain for themselves to build out their civilization. There are numerous ways for players to gain victory points throughout the course of the game and many ways to setup the board so that each time the game is played it’s different to the last.

A History Of The Settlers of Catan & It’s Origins

The Settlers of Catan was originally released into the German market in 1995 by the Franckh-Komos Verlag (Kosmos) company. This hugely popular and successful board game was the brain child of games designer Klaus Teuber.

The game is currently published by multiple different publishers depending on which part of the world you’re in. The main bulk of sales throughout the UK and US are provided by Mayfair Games.
