Settlers Of Catan Book From Rebecca Gable
Right here at Board Games Critic we’ve had news from one of our sources to let us know that a very cool novel based upon the Settlers of Catan board game is due to be released within the next couple of months. More precisely the book is due to be released on the 15th November 2011. The Settlers of Catan book is going to be will be available to buy through Amazon, and can be pre-ordered now, we’re just waiting our pre-release copy so we can give it a thorough read through and provide you with our full review.
This book has been written by Rebecca Gable who is the author of several other bestselling books – read her author page here on Amazon. Rebecca Gable was a teacher of Anglo Sazxon language and was involved in the translation of English and American novels by many authors including Neil Gainman and Kevin Baker. Rebecca is responsible for 8 historical novels which have made international bestseller, what’s more she has been awarded the Sir Walter Scott Prize back in 2006.
The Settlers of Catan book is going to be following an extremely popular board game, the game itself came about in 1995 and has since become more popular than many classic board games including Monopoly. Catan has sold close to 25 million copies last year alone making it an incredibly successful game.
The book is set in the year of 850 around the seas of northern Europe in a small coastal village of Elasund falls. The village is subject to the marauding of neighbours and food stocks stolen, live stock killed and women & children taken. Villagers are left to survive the harsh winter, but it’s not good, they are forced to leave the land they have only ever known.
The tale sees the Foster brothers Osmun and Candamir lead their own people on an epic quest to find a mythic island home. Whilst lost at sea a massive storm forces them ashore onto a lost island: they’ve find Catan.
The new Settlers of Catan try to form a new society but the same struggles emerge to test relationships and bonds amongst the whole community. But how will the story end? ….
